Expectations on a level of:

Summary

“Nix’s life began in Honolulu in 1868. Since then she has traveled to mythic Scandinavia, a land from the tales of One Thousand and One Nights, modern-day New York City, and many more places both real and imagined. As long as he has a map, Nix’s father can sail his ship, The Temptation, to any place, any time. But now he’s uncovered the one map he’s always sought—1868 Honolulu, before Nix’s mother died in childbirth. Nix’s life—her entire existence—is at stake. No one knows what will happen if her father changes the past. It could erase Nix’s future, her dreams, her adventures . . . her connection with the charming Persian thief, Kash, who’s been part of their crew for two years. If Nix helps her father reunite with the love of his life, it will cost her her own.” by Goodreads.

Why?

… a freaking time-travel-ship? Come on, who can say no to that?

But I won’t get too excited, because I remember how disappointed I was after reading Magonia. The story sounded amazing but was rather … unmagical.
Well, I really hope this will turn out great, because timetravel never get’s old.
What is your WOW this week?

“Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill (breakingthespine) that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.”

Title: “The Sword of Summer” (Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard)
Author: Rick Riordan
Pages: 528
Release date: October 6th 2015

What’s happening?

Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother’s mysterious death, he’s lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers.

One day, he’s tracked down by a man he’s never met—a man his mother claimed was dangerous. The man tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god.

The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday. To prevent Ragnarok, Magnus must search the Nine Worlds for a weapon that has been lost for thousands of years.

When an attack by fire giants forces him to choose between his own safety and the lives of hundreds of innocents, Magnus makes a fatal decision.

Sometimes, the only way to start a new life is to die . . .

Why?

WHY? Seriously? I just remembered the way I stuffed myself with Percy-Jackson-Books until I realised there are no more books to come (Harry-Potter-Revival). The Kane-Chronicles were good as well but I’ve only read the first two books (Books in Germany are expensive and I couldn’t bring myself to buy them all.)
Nevermind, I’m SO excited for this series, my first fantasy books were all about the nordic mythology – this better be good, Riordan!

….and as many realised earlier on Goodreads – there will be Loki in it (hopefully! I mean, come on. We love the Avengers (I should correct myself: We love Tom Hiddleston as Loki and if that one is half as badass as Tom’s Loki, thank God! If not .. okay. I’ll ly awake at night and cry myself to sleep).

What are your thought’s? What did you pick for your WoW?

Author: Mindy McGinnis

Release date: October 6th 2015

“Grace Mae knows madness.

She keeps it locked away, along with her voice, trapped deep inside a brilliant mind that cannot forget horrific family secrets. Those secrets, along with the bulge in her belly, land her in a Boston insane asylum.

When her voice returns in a burst of violence, Grace is banished to the dark cellars, where her mind is discovered by a visiting doctor who dabbles in the new study of criminal psychology. With her keen eyes and sharp memory, Grace will make the perfect assistant at crime scenes. Escaping from Boston to the safety of an ethical Ohio asylum, Grace finds friendship and hope, hints of a life she should have had. But gruesome nights bring Grace and the doctor into the circle of a killer who stalks young women. Grace, continuing to operate under the cloak of madness, must hunt a murderer while she confronts the demons in her own past.

In this beautifully twisted historical thriller, Mindy McGinnis, acclaimed author of Not a Drop to Drink and In a Handful of Dust, explores the fine line between sanity and insanity, good and evil—and the madness that exists in all of us

Do I need to say more? I’ll definitely read this precious Cover-beauty, because Sanity and Insanity is always a good topic to start your day with, isnt’it?
What do y’all think?

Waiting on Wednesday #10 – “Illusionarium”

Title: Illusionarium
Author: Heather Dixon
Expected Publication: May 19th 2015
Pages: 368

“From the author of Entwined, a brilliantly conceived adventure through an alternate London. This sweeping, cinematic tale of an apprentice scientist desperate to save his family—and his world—is The Night Circus meets Pixar.

Through richly developed parallel worlds, vivid action, a healthy dose of humor, and gorgeous writing, Heather Dixon spins a story that is breathtaking and wholly original.”

Why?

 … soooo, what’s the story?

First, I was fascinated by the opposing opinions concerning this upcoming book. Many people were disappointed, others said it’s far more than you would expect. … Then I started to stalk the author, Heather Dixon. Her blog is sooo cool and after I’ve read that she’s an storyboard artist for Disney – it was over. I just kept on stalking and stalking and I’m leaving every book I’m currently reading on my desk and want to start her first book “Entwined”.

I’ve really no real clue what’s going on in “Illusionarium” but the hints on Goodreads and her blog suggest it’s a real good kind-of fantasy-story with great atmosphere. But I can be mistaken.
However, I’m SO excited to read in. In May. … so, in one month. More than 31 days. Oh dear.

But until then – There is a self-made book trailer by the author! Enjoy! 😀

Waiting on Wednesday #8 – “Firewalker” (Worldwalker #2)

IMG_20150204_1249541[1]

“Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill (breakingthespine) that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.”

Title: Firewalker (Worldwaker #2)
Author: Josephine Angelini
Expected Publication: September 1st 2015
Pages: 352

“You think I’m a monster, but my choices, as ruthless as they seem, are justified.”
Lily is back in her own universe, and she’s ready to start a new life with Rowan by her side. True, she almost died in the Pyre that fueled their escape from New Salem, and must hide her magic for the safety of everyone she cares about, but compared to fighting the Woven, the monstrous creatures inhabiting the alternate Salem, life is looking pretty good.
Unfortunately, Lillian, ruthless ruler of the 13 Cities, is not willing to let Lily go that easily. If she can’t persuade Lily to return to her world, she will force her to come back by doing away with the ones she loves.”

Picking up right where Trial By Fire left off, Firewalker is another sexy, fast-paced, heartbreaking thrill ride from internationally bestselling author Josephine Angelini!

Wait, what? Was this book seriously described as sexy? I nailed it with Arielle, I did.

If this Cover were a Gif

Yeah, stop showin’ off. We get it. You look great and will bring us all hope and then, everything will be shattered into tiny pieces. I know it. You wrote the Starcrossed-Trilogy and after the first amazing book you destroyed me. Shame on you. I love the new series but I’m damn afraid you’ll do it again.

Seriously, I’m looking forward to the second book. I loved the first one Trial By Fire, but I am afraid that my high expectations won’t be fulfilled. The second book is always the hardest, because it’s only a bridge for the grand finale. But it shouldn’t feel like this. I hope, Angelinie masters it. I really do.

What is your WoW-Pick for this week? Let me know!

Clicked on “Want To Read”!
Wait a minute …. What is the book even about?

… I hope it’s worth the Cover.

Reading the summary and feeling like

“Aza Ray is drowning in thin air.

Since she was a baby, Aza has suffered from a mysterious lung disease that makes it ever harder for her to breathe, to speak—to live.

So when Aza catches a glimpse of a ship in the sky, her family chalks it up to a cruel side effect of her medication. But Aza doesn’t think this is a hallucination. She can hear someone on the ship calling her name.

Only her best friend, Jason, listens. Jason, who’s always been there. Jason, for whom she might have more-than-friendly feelings. But before Aza can consider that thrilling idea, something goes terribly wrong. Aza is lost to our world—and found, by another. Magonia.

Above the clouds, in a land of trading ships, Aza is not the weak and dying thing she was. In Magonia, she can breathe for the first time. Better, she has immense power—and as she navigates her new life, she discovers that war is coming. Magonia and Earth are on the cusp of a reckoning. And in Aza’s hands lies the fate of the whole of humanity—including the boy who loves her. Where do her loyalties lie?”

Neil Gaiman’s Stardust meets John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars in this fantasy about a girl caught between two worlds…two races…and two destinies.

I haven’t read “Stardust” but I’ve read “The Fault In Our Stars” and damn, that book made me cry like a baby. If this book is even near to John Green’s masterpiece or the movie “Stardust” (which I love very much, so you better be good “Magonia”!)  – I’ll be so happy to discover a new story about destiny, love and some otherwordly stuff.
It reminds me of Trial By Fire. The main character suffers from a disease too and struggles to have a normal life – but then, she magically gets sucked in another world, where her “weakness” is actually Power.
We’ll see. But the Cover is still magnificent…

What is your opinion? Overrated? Underrated? What did you pick for your WoW?

Waiting on Wednesday #6 – “Winter” (The Lunar Chronicles)

IMG_20150204_1249541[1]

“Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill (breakingthespine) that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.”

Title: Winter (Lunar Chronicles #4)
Author: Marissa Meyer
Release Date: November 10th 2015
Expected: TO BE AWESOME. If not, you better explain yourself, Marissa Meyer!

I’m just staring. Seriously. Something about this cover is so hypnotic .. I can’t explain it. Staring. Oh God, I should better keep this under control. You can read the summary to give you a little taste of what’s coming, I’ll stare in the meantime.

What is going to happen?

“When Princess Winter was thirteen, the rumor around the Lunar court was that her glamour would soon be even more breathtaking than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana. In a fit of jealousy, Levana disfigured Winter. Four years later, Winter has sworn off the use of her glamour altogether. Despite her scars, Winter’s natural beauty, her grace, and her gentleness are winning admiration from the Lunar people that no amount of mind-control could achieve.

Winter despises her stepmother, but has never dreamed of standing up to her. That is, until she realizes that she may be the only one with the power to confront the queen.”

“Can Cinder, Prince Kai, Scarlet, Wolf, Cress, Thorne, Princess Winter, and the palace guard Jacin find their happily ever afters? Fans will LOVE this amazing conclusion to the series.” (Goodreads)

Why should you be as happy as I am?

All the ones who loved the Lunar Chronicles will understand. The others – well, you should probably catch up. I know, some people say they’re bad books and some people have different tastes or are a somehow insane (No. I’m serious. This books work just this way: You like them or you don’t. Fortunately, I do.)
I am SO going to love that book, because Cinder, Scarlet and all the others are gonna ***** the ***** out of that evil glamourous queen. Or, at least, I hope so.
… aand I love happy ends, okay, it shouldn’t be too “love, peace and harmony” but it would be nice, if the author finds the endings every character deserves.

I want it. Now.

That’s all I’ve got. So, what’s your opinion? What did you choose as Wow? Let me know!
